Looks like safari are going to have a few more converts this month.

Last I checked FF 1 and 2 still worked fine

I don't think moz's unit tests stretch to "insert any ff toolbar" and then click a tab while the browser is in an unstable state, i'm sure the browser without any extensions is pretty stable.

What they could have done was lock the UI but users get pissy when nothing seems to be happening, but anyway, look at the lengths they go to when it does go wrong...

1) "We're Sorry"
2) "we'll try to restore your tabs and windows when it restarts"
3) "you can send us a crash report"
4) "Email me when more information is available"

If you know somthing crashes your product, it should be removed or fixed.

I can't load it at the moment, even in safe mode. I guess i'll wait for the next update.

Currently using IE8, which seems to be working well. Although it dosen't pass Acid 3.

IE has come closest to the rendering reference. I wonder if any current browser can render Acid 3 Properly?

But how are moz to know that the browser would be put in that state without testing every single extension available?, afaik the update system is based on version range checking.

Have you tried creating a new profile from the command line "firefox.exe -CreateProfile test"

You can always have a look at what's causing ff to crash directly using "firefox.exe -console"

BTW the Acid 3 test was designed to break every browser currently on release, it'll be a long time before any come close to rendering it complete, my moneys on WebKit tho.

I'm not sure how the extensions are architected but why would you need to test every extension? Surly the processes that run the extensions are managed and marshalled by the browser. If a failure happens I’d have thought that the thread could be terminated elegantly.

I wasn't suggesting that IE 8 was the best of all the browsers. Just the ones I had tried so far - sorry I should have added that.

If I were the product development manager at Microsoft I’d be trying to get my browser to be the first Acid 3 browser, can you imagine what a coup that would be!
