WebKit passes Acid 3

by thebeebs 27. March 2008 10:29

Looks like the Webkit team have proved they are the leading player in standards compliance as today they have released a public build that passes the Acid 3 test.

It can be downloaded here: http://nightly.webkit.org/

I wonder how long it will take for the other browser manufacturers to catch up? Considering that the Acid 3 test, tests for things that are not actually adopted standards, whether other browsers should want to pass the test at all?

This is the same thing that got microsft in trouble. Start supporting things that are draft standards then when the standard turns 180 degrees and you have applications built on the draft standard you are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

The webkit team seem to be very very agile, constantly ensuring they keep ahead of the curve. Where as Microsoft in the past have been too willing to sit on their laurels. Only time will tell if Webkit can keep up the pace.

Hey this is a great post. Could you keep me updated with any other info similar to this? If travelling to the UK why not stay at Stratford hotel and watch a Shakespear play
